Style Icon: Giovanna Battagalia

When I ran across this post on Giovanna Battagalia I instantly thought, "That's the beautifully, chic Italian woman that's always photographed by the Sartorialist!" (When you search "Giovanna" you get a collection of inspiring looks by Miss Battagalia.)

After I googled her I was amazed at the gazillion blog posts on this woman. Here, here, here and here to name a few.

The fashion editor at L'Uomo Vogue and also a freelance stylist, this woman is the epitome of European chic. She's classy and elegant and does it all with ease. She's got to be one of the most stylish women in the world.

Garance Doré also has quite the Giovanna collection as does Zimbio (?? just ran across that from my google search.)

Rubbie Green

Last week Rubbie Green's Michelle Adam's did a post on her NYC apartment that recently got publisched in Real Living magazine.

Rubbie Green makes 100% organic cotton (cute) fabrics and this is why I love their take on being green: "We know that natural does not mean boring, and that interiors make a house a home." Adorable, right? Read more here.

Here's an inside look at Michelle's home:

I really like her style. It's fun and feminine yet still inviting and livable. I love her coffee table (from CB2.)

I feel like everyone is using the Sapien bookcases
these days. Makes sense, they're such a space saver. Erin at Elements of Style thinks they'll even be an antique one day.

Stella McCartney to do baby Gap

Animal friendly designer, Stella McCartney, has signed on to do a kids collection for Gap which later this year. This is good to know since I always forget about the Gap and sometimes you need to know where to find cute kid clothes.Speaking of Stella McCartney, how cute is this dress from her 2010 Resort collection? Fun, fun, fun. Gah, I want a new bike so bad.

It's not easy being green

I'm definitely trying my hardest to be as green as possible.

When a light bulb goes out I replace it with a compact fluorescent bulb.

I always set my laptop to "sleep mode" when I'm not using it. (I found this great article on how to make your Mac really energy efficient - very helpful.)

I use my ceiling fans a lot more so I don't have to use my air conditioner as much.

And I try to recycle everything I can which brings me to this:

The Mode Recycling Center.

The one thing I hate about recycling is how messy it can be. Luckily my actual recycling bin isn't far from my kitchen so I can just stack things and then take them outside. But for apartment/condo dwellers this would be perfect. It's like a trash compactor so it holds 3x as much as you put in there.

The Eco-Track feature is such a great idea. You can set the timer to remind you when recycle day is (so no more forgetting!) The tracker also keeps track of how much you have recycled.

Oh and it doesn't require electricity either. You step on the foot pedal to do all of the compacting. Pretty awesome.

Summertime

I'm really digging the all black look for summer.

Scrunchies.

So American Apparel has a thing for doing things a little over-the-top. Take the assless tights for instance.

But the fact that they're advertising scrunchies in 2009 just absolutely blows my mind. I know I still have some in my bow drawer at my parents house (yes, I had a bow drawer and yes it's still there) but God forbid I ever wear one unless I'm washing my face.

But fo realz who will wear these??

After reading the Cut post and I immediately thought of the Sex and the City episode (which AA totally tries to downplay here) where Carrie's dating that obnoxious writer, Berger, and he writes about a girl that wears a scrunchie and Carrie totally flips out over it. TOTALLY JUSTIFIED.

When you see someone in public wearing a scrunchie one would only hope it was by accident or they're pretending like it's 1985.

I need a painter

I wish I could sample every paint color I find appealing, just like this photo.

It would make my color decisions so much easier, and the repainting process so much shorter.

Water sports

This picture reminds me of how much I love going to the lake.

And how I need to lay off on the carbs.
